It's Too Easy to be Negative

Looking around, it doesn’t take long to notice failures, disappointments, injustices and all manner of worldly details that ought to be different.  I see as many of them in myself has I do in the world, in large measure because all of us humans are a mess in one way or another.  We have been since that day that the archetype humans gave into their desire for “more” – choosing to hedge against God’s one and only instruction.  Humanity’s first couple gave us the gift of knowing evil, from which God clearly desired us to be protected.  That choice enabled the most difficult to manage feature of the human race – “I know better than you.”

Thankfulness is, in many ways, the converse. To be thankful is to recognize and acknowledge  the provision of another which completes a place in you that was lacking before. It’s wrapped up in this biblical idea of loving one another, of submitting to one another, of sacrificially sharing with one another until none have need.

I have benefitted immeasurably from the love, submission/submitting, and sacrificial sharing of others. I’m profoundly thankful every day for the people and opportunities God places in my path. There have been so many of late that I’m overwhelmed, and overflowing with thankfulness. This is so much more than the requisite Thanksgiving post; it is the joy of my heart today. It just happens to coincide with an American  holiday about being thankful for our many blessings.

I’m grateful for you, for who you are, for all your potential, and for who you see in me. You…YOU…no matter who you are or what you believe, you are a gift to me. Thank you.
