SBC Pastor Attacks VeggieTales, Deletes Post After Backlash; Says He and Phil Vischer ‘Are Talking’

Hours earlier, Page had said, “If increasing Twitter followers means having to have a platform of anger all the time, count me out. Page did not disclose the contents of his conversation with Bob the Tomato himself.

In the most recent episode of the Holy Post podcast, Vischer and Jethani discussed some of the watershed moments of 2021, which included the ongoing debates about the role of women in church leadership and whether critical race theory is a threat to the gospel. Vischer remarked at how often Christians consider their “pet issues” to be essential to the gospel.

“Remember, Phil, in church history, there were literally wars fought over this kind of stuff,” Jethani said.

“Well, we’re still fighting wars over them. We’re just doing it on Twitter, so it’s a little less bloody,” Vischer joked in response.
