Anti-CRT Atheist Author Tells Timothy Keller to ‘Repent’

While an avowed atheist, Lindsay’s remarks are unfortunately characteristic in many online discussions among fellow evangelicals when it comes to issues of critical theory, race, and social justice. As someone with sharp intellect and skills of observation, Lindsay has taken a role as a contributing member of the evangelical discourse with relative ease.

This is perhaps due in part to Lindsay’s talent for and experience with playing a part in order to prove a point. Prior to his foray into SBC politics, Lindsay was well known for the so-called grievance studies hoax.

In 2017, Lindsay and two colleagues wrote a series of fake papers and submitted them to niche academic journals. The topics were intentionally ridiculous — ranging from “The Conceptual Penis as a Social Construct” to rape culture at dog parks — and their purpose was to expose the presence of progressive ideologies in academic settings, over and above academic rigor and research. In the end, seven of their 20 submissions were accepted, greatly damaging the credibility of those journals.

Looking to Lindsay’s current involvement with the evangelical community, and given his extensive writings that portray an assumption that religious people are unintelligent and emotionally unstable, discerning Christians may begin to wonder whether Lindsay is truly concerned about the threat wokeness poses to the American Church, or if there is another game afoot.
