Pastor and Priest Team up to Share Their Faith at Local Brewery

Garrison shared that he wasn’t sure what to expect. He thought that maybe 10 to 15 people would attend the first meeting. To his surprise, more than 100 showed up.

Quentin Willard, who is one of the brewery’s owners, is supportive of Kurtz’s and Garrison’s efforts, saying, “Religion is a very important part of our community here, so having a place to do that outside of the church is unique.”

“It also affords the opportunity for non-religious people to kind of get a taste of it and maybe find something they didn’t know they liked,” Willard added.

While many of the people who attend a “Pints with a Priest” or “Pints with a Pastor” event aren’t likely to begin attending one of the churches, Kurtz expressed that he’s okay with that.

“I think the church just has to get outside of its walls and find people where they are and ask the questions, ‘What are their concerns? What are their needs,’” Kurtz said.
