Alabama Gelato Shop Requiring Modest Dress Founded by Man Accused of Being ‘Cult Leader’

Critic Jane Stannus says Queen of Peace “teaches a blend of New Age mysticism and Gnosticism, including belief in extraterrestrial life forms and interplanetary communication.” Though based in Italy, the order “appears to operate a kind of spiritual hotel in Medjugorje,” she adds, “complete with pseudo-mystical architectural features such as a ‘Door of Light’ through which the initiate passes, symbolically dying to himself.”

Calling Vlasic “wildly heretical,” Stannus concludes: If Rome wants to approve pilgrimages, should it not explain the precise nature and scope of Vlasic’s influence on seers, not to mention influence exerted by him and fellow dissidents on pro-Medjugorje messages broadcast throughout the Catholic world?” The issue is important, she writes, because “good-hearted Catholics may have been made victims of an ingenious fraud, or worse, of an ongoing diabolic manifestation.”
