Dolly Parton often speaks about her faith and works with other Christian artists. In 2019, she collaborated with for KING & COUNTRY to create a new version of their song, “God Only Knows.” In 2020, Parton collaborated with Christian artist Zach Williams on the single, “There Was Jesus,” which earned Parton her first number one single on a Christian chart.
Parton shared her perspective on aging last year in an interivew, saying, “I don’t feel old. In my mind, I remember my life was in a great spot when I was 35 years old, and I remember at that time thinking, ‘This is a great time in my life.’ So I chose to just kind of think like I’m 35 all the time in my mind. No matter what the numbers say. Numbers lie.”
In an interview this year, the singer said, “I’m turning 77 and I think, Golly, how did I get that old? The time just kind of flew by, but you base it more on what you’ve got ahead of you instead of what’s behind you.”
She added, “I think: I’ve gotta work. I’ve gotta make hay while the sun shines…I have been blessed in my life to have done so many things. They say wisdom comes with age, and if that’s the truth then I ought to be really smart by now because 77 is a big number.”
