John MacArthur Gives Update on His Heart Problems on Grace to You Radio Broadcast

MacArthur said he was put on “all kinds of drugs” following the surgery, and those have drained his energy, even though in general he is doing well. “I feel great,” he said. “I have no illness. I sleep well. I eat well. I just feel like I went from eight cylinders to four cylinders.”

MacArthur has not preached at GCC while he has been recovering, although he did appear at GCC’s annual Shepherds Conference, which took place from March 8-10. The pastor took part in a 45-minute Q&A and also preached the final session of the conference, speaking for nearly 90 minutes. “I got wound up,” he told Johnson. “I felt strong, I felt good. Everybody was saying, ‘Do you want to sit down, do you want to have a desk?’” He refused, saying that he wanted to do what he always does, which is stand at the pulpit and preach.

Even though MacArthur is still recuperating, he said, “I’m on the recovery end of it now” and he will return “very soon.”
