Christian Retailing reported that the first revision of the New International Version will begin production for print and digital purposes soon, once the proofreading process is complete. Zondervan, the publisher of the hugely popular NIV, announced that it will release a new line of Bibles to correspond to the translation update. The NIV has sold more than 300 million copies since introduced in 1978; the revision will reflect updated English usage and biblical scholarship advances. Zondervan will phase out its controversial Today’s New International Version of the Bible after the revision releases. Click here for more information on the 2011 NIV.
