Chan Talks About Next Steps

In a recent interview, Christianity Today spoke with Francis Chan, former megachurch pastor and best-selling author, about his plans for the future and possible next steps for ministry.

Chan and his family will be traveling to Asia over the next few months before returning to the States in December. When asked about his reasons for leaving the successful ministry of Cornerstone, Chan said that there were already many ministers in the Simi Valley area, so he wanted to go a place where there are more people to be reached and fewer workers.

Chan also said that he will likely return to ministry in the U.S. with a strong focus on discipleship. However, when asked if he would still be a pastor, Chan said, “I feel like I’m going to learn so much while I’m in Asia that I feel like it would be foolish to make any decisions about my life until I learn from these people.”

Since its release in May 2008, Chan’s first book Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God has sold over a million copies.
