Businessman Gives Discount for Quoting John 3:16

According to the CNN Blog, a? businessman in Plano, Texas is giving a steep discount on a full service oil change if the customer can recite John 3:16. Charlie Whittington owns Kwik Kar, an auto service business, and says he’s “standing for what he believes” by offering them the special discount. Some customers have complained about his policy, but Whittington is sticking to them, and a Texas attorney says it appears to be legal.

On a radio show with Glenn Beck last Friday, Whittington explained, “Man I just was tired of all the bad things that was discussed and I just wanted to talk about something good in my life.” Beck and his co-host Pat Gray joked unceasingly with Whittington, but the business owner maintained that the deal is an opportunity to share his faith with customers. “If you talk more positive stuff you get more positive things out of it…I want to inspire people to look where they can do more.” Customers who do not quote the verse pay $46 for the same service; those that do pay $19.99. Whittington allows customers to look up the verse on their phone or even read off a placard in his office.
