Preston Perry Defends Himself, Jackie Hill Perry, Against Criticism for Not Celebrating Roe’s Demise

Compared to abortion, “standing on someone’s neck for nine minutes is not nuance,” says Perry, referencing George Floyd’s murder-by-cop in 2020. “The same people accusing us [of not addressing abortion] didn’t post about George Floyd at all.”

Most white conservative Christians “have nothing to lose” when they post about abortion, according to Perry. “You don’t want me to post ‘amen’ [about Roe’s reversal] because you love children,” he tells critics. “You want me to post ‘amen’ because you want to know if I’m on your side.”

Perry calls out “politician Christians” who care only about “standing up for your political view.” While filming his video, the artist blocked some people due to their livestreamed comments.

Perry also expressed frustration about social media, saying he’ll probably be done with it altogether in a few years. It’s “such a toxic place” filled with reactions, he says, and it “doesn’t create room for real discussions.”
