In 2019, pastor Adam Tyson was asked if West’s commitment to God was genuine. Tyson, who discipled West, said that he believes that the rapper’s transformation is real.

“To be honest with you, if I wasn’t on the inside of it, I might be a little skeptical myself,” the pastor said. “I do think we need to be cautious, but I’ve spent enough hours with this man to know that God is at work.”

Tyson cited reading the Bible, praying, and destroying sinful patterns as the fruit he was witnessing in West’s life.

West released the gospel album “Jesus Is King” on October 25, 2019, which collected a GMA Dove Award, two Billboard Music Awards, and a Grammy Award. West followed up the Christian album with “Donda” on August 29, 2021, with a Christian theme again woven throughout his songs. On February 23, 2022, West released “Donda 2,” the latest album in his Christian music career.
