Christian claims he and his mother could have threatened his father’s race at its beginning by speaking out, but they did not. “We were told at the beginning of this he was going to get ahead of his past, hold himself accountable, all of these different things, and that would have been fine,” said Christian. “He didn’t do any of that.” Christian also says that Herschel Walker’s family members tried to dissuade him from running, but that he refused to listen.
Christian Walker pushed back against people accusing him of being hypocritical for previously supporting his father, saying that he only appeared at one event and that at the time he believed his father was pursuing a change of heart and accountability. “None of that happened,” he said. “Everything’s been a lie.”
Walker appeared to respond to his son on Twitter, saying, “I LOVE my son no matter what.”
The GOP is standing behind Herschel Walker, as is former president Donald Trump, who backed Walker in a statement posted to Truth Social. “Herschel has properly denied the charges against him, and I have no doubt he is correct,” said Trump.
Quite a few people commented on Walker’s tweet about his son urging Walker to step out of the Senate race, get healing, and repair his relationship with Christian.
