Hamlin went on to say, “Today, we are so humbled and inspired by what I feel is an opportunity that God has given me to help and protect young people based on what I experienced.”
In a video posted this week, Hamlin could be seen meeting with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer who told him, “You’re an inspiration to me and to everybody.”
“I’m going to do everything I can to pass this legislation,” Schumer went on to assure Hamlin.

Hamlin also met with President Joe Biden in the Oval Office of the White House. After the exchange, Biden tweeted a photo of himself alongside Hamlin, praising the young athlete.
“Damar Hamlin’s courage, resilience, and spirit inspired the American people,” Biden said. “And what’s more: he turned recovery into action – and our country is better for it. It was my honor to have him and his family here today.”

Reflecting on his time in the nation’s capital, Hamlin tweeted, “This is just the beginning of using my story to create real change. We’re just getting started.”
