The Washington Post called attention to the question they say has been swirling throughout the media this morning: Is Glenn Beck a Christian? Is President Obama? Beck, a Mormon, has publicly decided Obama is a Muslim, and The Post has subsequently been struggling with the definition of “Christian,” “Mormon,” “Protestant,” and “Muslim.” Post columnist Elizabeth Tenety wonders if there has been too much talk about “words and labels” relating to these men’s faiths. The president himself has declared himself to be a Christian, although he worships privately and does not attend a church.
What do you think? Is the faith of prominent figures open for public debate? How important is it that we label these men’s faiths accurately?
