Family Gathers at Chuck Colson's Bedside as His Condition Worsens

Prison Fellowship Ministries announced today that their founder and influential Christian minister Chuck Colson’s health condition has “taken a decided turn” as doctors urge his family to gather by his bedside. Colson underwent brain surgery more than two weeks ago in a Virginia hospital and had been recovering, but CEO of Prison Fellowship Ministries Jim Liske stated today that “while we had seen some hopeful signs for Chuck’s recovery…it seems that God may be calling him home.” Liske thanked everyone for prayers, cards and well-wishes and asked all to keep praying for the situation.

Colson fell ill during a conference engagement and underwent surgery on March 31 to remove a blood clot from the surface of his brain. Colleague Eric Metaxas has been taking over Colson’s daily Breakpoint radio broadcast. This year was the first time in 34 years that Colson did not minister for Easter Sunday in a prison setting.
