Other groups are speaking out as well. Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), which supports religious freedom across the globe, joined 243 organizations condemning “atrocity crimes and other grave human rights violations by the Chinese government” and asking “athletes and sponsors not to legitimize government abuses.”
“This is not a moment for celebration but a time for outrage and action in the face of these violations,” said CSW’s founder and president, Mervyn Thomas. “We join calls for governments, corporate sponsors and spectators to not only ensure they are not complicit in these abuses and the propaganda used to cover them up, but to take robust action to stand with human rights defenders, victims and survivors.”

ChinaAid, which advocates for religious freedom in China, has also called for a boycott of the 2022 Winter Olympics, as well as the release of human rights activist Guo Feixiong.

VOM’s Prayer Boycott
VOM is asking believers, not just to boycott the Games, but to commit to prayer by signing their names at PrayforChina2022.com. “The Voice of the Martyrs is calling Christians to commit to pray for Chinese Christians suffering persecution at the hands of the oppressive Communist government of the host country,” said the group. By signing up at VOM’s link, people can “receive prayer updates, invite others to pray through social media, add prayer reminders to their calendar and learn more about how the Communist Chinese government persecutes Christians within its borders.”
Said Nettleton, “Pray for pastors and church leaders to stand firmly for biblical truth in spite of government pressure to compromise. Pray for the encouragement of Chinese believers, that they will experience unity and fellowship as members of the body of Christ.”
