Amazon and Tesla Among Companies Helping Employees Get Out-of-State Abortions

Apple, another influential tech company worth more than $3 trillion, will also cover travel for employees who need to travel out of their home state to get an abortion. The iPhone maker’s CEO, Tim Cook, told employees last September that their medical insurance would cover travel costs following Texas’ new abortion law.

Citigroup, Levi Strauss, Yelp, Uber, and Lyft all currently offer some type of assistance to employees wanting to get abortions and have to travel to another state to do so.

The list of companies willing to help employees get abortions is expected to grow, especially since other states like Idaho, Missouri, Tennessee, Florida, and Oklahoma have passed or are looking to pass laws similar to Texas’ “Heartbeat Ban.”
