Florida Church Offers Drive-Thru Prayers

A church in Fort Lauderdale has been offering drive-thru prayer services to local residents every Friday for about a month, according to CBS Miami. Volunteers set up in the driveway at the Christian Life Center of Fort Lauderdale and wave people in with signs reading “Having a Bad Day? Free Prayer” as cars pass by.

Church leaders say some who drive through “have never been inside a church and are at the end of their rope.” One woman who took advantage of the service said, “A lot of people are so busy these days; I don’t always get a chance to go to church anymore…This isn’t everything I need, but it’s a good pick-me-up.” Elijah Gabriel, one of the volunteers, said, “I’m delighted to be doing it. Anything you do for God creates a kind of joy in your heart.”

Volunteers pray for any topic and have served 150 members so far. Outreach pastor Sol Levy says he’s not sure if he will add any more days to the service,

With the drive-thru prayers successful but still new, the church won’t decide for a few months whether to add any more days, says Sol Levy, the outreach pastor. “We really want them in (church),” he said to a reporter from the Sun-Sentinel. “They need more than a prayer. They need a relationship with Jesus.”
