Taking off the Pretense: Why Weak Leadership Can Heal Our Churches

My question for us leaders is: How are we allowing the thorns in our lives to help shape us into the strong leaders God intends for us to be?

God intends for His Church to be a place of healing and safety for all of us, including those of us in the pastorate and in positions of leadership. Some of us may believe that if we openly share about the scars in our lives that we will appear weak or ineffective. We believe that we cannot be in the cauldron with our people. The truth is that we are all in the cauldron together and that pain is a universal experience—whether that pain is physical, spiritual, or emotional.

Who is your fisherman? Go find him or her. After all, weak and wounded leadership wholly dependent on Christ is the only way we can endure the fiery flames we continue to experience. It is in our weakness that Christ can be most clearly seen through us.
