Obama Gives Speech on Personal Faith

CNN Belief Blog reported that President Barack Obama delivered an “unusually personal” speech about his faith on Thursday at the National Prayer Breakfast at the White House. Obama said his Christian faith “has been sustaining him over the last couple of years” and that he partakes in morning and evening prayers regularly. White House officials said Obama “takes his faith very seriously.” Last year, the Pew Forum for Religion and Public Life showed a growing number of Americans (one in five) believes Obama to be Muslim. The White House believes much of the misinformation about the president’s faith has been repeated by people who do not know the truth. The National Prayer Breakfast has taken place at the White House every year for 58 years. The president’s speech was streamed live on the White House website.
