Church Leaders Tweet to Save Said Musa

The Christian Post reported that prominent church leaders have tweeted their concerns about the fate of Afghan Christian Said Musa, who awaits execution for converting from Islam to Christianity. The clamor began when Denny Burk, dean of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, appealed to President Barack Obama to intervene and “persuade the Afghan government not to execute our brother Said Musa.” Since then, pastors John Piper, Rick Warren, Matt Chandler, and authors David Platt and Ed Stetzer have either tweeted or re-tweeted a message begging Christians to pray and for the president to intervene. Journalist Paul Marshall also wrote an article for the National Review Online questioning the president for commenting on Terry Jones burning the Qu’ran but remaining silent on this issue. Musa, a former Red Cross worker, has been imprisoned for nine months and has refused to renounce his faith, saying, “My body is theirs to do what they want with. Only God can decide if my spirit goes to hell.”
