7 Deadly Sins of Easter Outreach

3. Envy

Don’t be upset because another church is doing something you can’t do. Focus on what you can do with excellence. Celebrate that we’re all on the same team and all seeking to reach people for the kingdom!

A sense of competition with another church in your community is not healthy. It will cause you to say and do ungodly things.

Instead, cheer for the churches in your community and let them inspire you to do great things for God.

4. Greed

When a church isn’t honest about who they can and cannot reach, they get greedy. They think they’re going to reach everyone and all they end up doing is wasting money.

In my Outreach coaching network, we spend a lot of time helping pastors understand who they are uniquely gifted to reach. Once you know how God has wired you and your church, it allows you to focus on those you’re most likely to reach and speak directly to them.

5. Gluttony

Focus on who you’re most equipped to reach and those most likely to stay. If you do, your church will be healthier and quite honestly, fuller. As mentioned above, we waste money when we try to reach everyone.

Instead, embrace the fact that God has raised up all kinds of churches to reach all kinds of people.
