We all talk about how much we hate meetings but here is a 5 minute video that looks at the mechanics of a meeting.
– Meetings have become a delaying factor in moving forward, taking action, and getting real things done.
– Companies that had tons of meetings beyond the cultural norm were answering questions for an alternate problem. The alternate problem was that everyone was terrified of making decisions.
– When an important decision came up they scheduled a meeting to discuss the decision.
Solutions….
A meeting can’t exist without a decision to support. In other words, don;t call a meeting to make a decision. Make the decision and call the meeting to support it. Most of the time you will realize, “Wow, I don’t need a meeting.” If you do need a meeting it will be for two reasons; conflict or coordination.
