It’s About Remembering Not Just Relaxing (Part 3)

Many people think taking a Sabbath is all about not working. I believe it’s more than that.

A central part of taking a Sabbath for me is to reflect on the fact that there is a God and it’s not me.

While every moment is a moment to reflect on the goodness of God, the depth of His limitless grace, and the width of His unending love I need a day to be refocused.

Maybe it’s just me but some days (more days than I would like to admit) I drift in my faith.

Some days I forget about the beauty of God’s grace.

Some days I revert back to trying to earn my salvation.

Some days I substitute Christ with furious activity and service.

But not on the Sabbath. The Sabbath reminds me to live inside the reality that my main job, really my only job, is to simply remain connected to Christ. To abide in the one “who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine.”
