Eighty-five percent of the world’s church leaders have almost no theological training. Members of Desiring God’s International Outreach team have personally observed that where there is a void of God-honoring, Christ-exalting training and resources, there will rush in horrible, God-dishonoring theology.
We want to address that void. And we want to do so with a book specifically written to encourage pastors: The Supremacy of God in Preaching by John Piper.
Baker Books has agreed to give us a special price for this book, as long as it is distributed outside North America (which is the very thing we long to do!). We just need to purchase a minimum of 10,000 copies for about $20,000.
That price—$2 per book—is already a huge gift from God; normally it costs several times that much for us to purchase this book for distribution. We thank God for Baker Book’s willingness to partner with us in this way!
Here’s what we are praying towards:
- Recently we added texting as an option for people to donate to Desiring God.
- Beginning on Friday, October 1 at 8:00 AM, every $10 text donation to Desiring God will go towards purchasing The Supremacy of God in Preaching for distribution to Global South pastors.
- We are asking God to provide $20,000 through text donations during the 64 hours from 8:00 AM on Friday through midnight on Sunday.
