ARC also worked to strengthen our assessment process for church planters. We partnered with Andy Yarborough of The Well Clinic in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to better assess the emotional health of church planters and provide resources for growth. The goal is simple: We want leaders to be whole, healthy, and ready for the challenges ahead. This focus has been a game-changer.

The Need for Each Other

God designed the church to work together. In 1 Corinthians 12:26, Paul reminds us that when one part of the body suffers, we all suffer; when one part rejoices, we all rejoice. All of us are on this mission together.

We need each other for insight, encouragement, and partnership. Some leaders are passionate about research and data, providing information about how churches are truly doing. Others can spot trends and discover needs that call the broader body of Christ to action. Collaboration strengthens us all.

One growing need is for better systems to evaluate church health. Measuring sticks we’ve used in the past—attendance, giving, and events—no longer tell the full story. We need consistent, insightful data to identify what’s working, where leaders are struggling, and how we can support one another. Leaders such as Warren Bird, Carey Nieuwhof, and Ed Stetzer are doing incredible work in these areas. By sharing knowledge and tools, we will improve together.

Our Best Days Are Ahead

I love the church. Every network, every church plant, and every expression is a reflection of God’s creative and redemptive work. We are part of something so much bigger than ourselves—a mission that unites us across networks, denominations, and boundaries.

Yes, challenges abound. Culture shifts, technology evolves, and leaders struggle. But I believe this is a moment of unprecedented opportunity for the church to rise up. When we share resources and lend support, the church becomes a powerful force for good—bringing the hope and healing of Jesus to a world in need.

The church’s best days aren’t behind us. They’re ahead. Let’s keep building together.
