Following the revelation of sexual abuse allegations against Gateway Church founder and senior pastor Robert Morris, Church of the Highlands announced that Morris has resigned as one of its overseers.

Bishop Lamor Whitehead has been sentenced to nine years in prison and ordered to pay $85,000 in restitution and forfeit $95,000 as a result of being found guilty of ​​fraud, attempted extortion, and lying to federal agents.

Sunny Mushtaq and Noman Asghar, both Christians, were arrested on June 29, 2019, in Pakistan on blasphemy charges for receiving cartoon drawings of the Prophet Muhammad on the popular messaging app WhatsApp.
