Nevertheless, despite her strong condemnation of Josh’s actions, King said, “I have a tiny bit of grace for Josh.”
“A tiny, tiny, very small, very minute amount, just because I know that if you have a problem with something, and you go and ask your parents, and say, ‘Hey, I’ve got this issue. I need to talk to someone about it,’” she continued. “And you’re trying to reach out to get help, you’re trying to change, you’re trying to figure out where is that coming from, and all that, and then it kind of gets pushed aside, or not really dealt with.”
“But more of like, ‘Hey, okay, we’re going to send you here and just get you out of the house, and they’ll talk to you there as you build houses,’ or whatever,” said King. “That’s not true help…That’s not true therapy.”
King was referring to the fact that when Jim Bob and Michelle learned of Josh’s alleged misconduct, they sent him away from home for a period of months. Josh reportedly did not receive clinical counseling.
Speaking of “Holy Disrupter,” King said, “I think the entire book will drop jaws. No one knows the things that I was struggling with.”
However, King told E! News that despite the fact that she is now estranged from Jim Bob, Michelle, and some of her cousins, she is not coming from “a bitter place.”
“For a little while, I was really sad. I was really heartbroken. It was really difficult to make that choice, and now I stand by it,” King said. “It’s okay to say we’re living different lives.”
“I wish them all the best, but I’m going to speak my truth,” she added.
