Travis Hunter’s College Career Followed Coach Deion Sanders
Hunter played for Coach Deion Sanders at both Jackson State and Colorado University. During a successful college football career, Hunter had Christian influences on his life. While playing a total of 30 games in college, Hunter gained a combined 2,167 yards and 80 combined tackles.
Deion Sanders was the head coach at both schools while Hunter was playing. Even as a head coach, Sanders publicly professes his own faith and hopes it’ll impact others.
“My personal relationship with God is truly strong. I don’t think anyone in this room could impact that relationship,” Sanders said. “I’m hoping that I can impact your relationship with God.”
The Freedom From Religion Foundation has accused Sanders multiple times of “religious coercion.” However, a religious liberty law firm contends his actions are “clearly legal.”
“God has always been my rock and my salvation,” Sanders said. “I’m going to glorify the Lord.”
