He has also spoken at a school district meeting about the importance of having students saying the Pledge of Allegiance every day as opposed to once a week.
In a sermon delivered on Oct. 5, Shelton said, “There’s a lot of people who know of God who refuse [to acknowledge him].”
“You see, God already knew you, but he gave you free will,” he continued. “It’s up to you to say, ‘You know what? There’s a lot in my life that I need to give up. I’m a pretty selfish person.’”
ChurchLeaders was not able to reach Blanchester Community Ministries for comment. The church does not have an active website, its Facebook page has been deactivated, and its phone line has apparently been disconnected.
Shelton has pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.
