“While your office grants you privilege, it is the privilege to serve in the name of Christ Jesus,” Jakes said. “So in the discharge of your office, I charge you to love and serve God’s people in this place and around the world. Even as Christ has loved you, open your life to them, sharing their joys, their burdens, their labors, their faith.”

Jakes further urged the ministers to “love the people. You cannot preach to people if you don’t love the people.”
After anointing the ministers with oil and charging the congregation to come under their leadership, Jakes indicated that he isn’t stepping away from the ministry himself, saying, “We are still here. Our strength is not abated, and our eyes are not blurred. But God has allowed us the privilege of more help for more reach.”
