Although the organization called itself a church, it also claimed to be non-religious. Nevertheless, Mark Grenon has referred to MMS as “a sacrament.” 

Following the Grenons’ noncompliance with the court mandate to stop selling MMS as a cure-all, charges were brought against the men in June 2020. 

Jonathan and Jordan were arrested in Bradenton, where their operation was based. Conversely, Mark and Joseph fled to Colombia before being arrested and extradited back to the United States.

While officials believe the Grenons’ decision to sell MMS as a religious sacrament was intended to leverage legal protections afforded to religious institutions, the jury saw past the ruse to sell toxic chemicals to unsuspecting patrons, delivering a guilty verdict in July.
