Cecil Smith, police chief for the Sanford Police Department, characterized Solarte as “a special class of criminal,” referring to Solarte’s alleged abuse of his spiritual authority as a pastor.
“Solarte is now behind bars where he belongs,” said Smith. “We pray there aren’t any additional people who have been victimized by this man. If anyone has information about these crimes, or other victims, come forward and help protect our children.”
As of Monday (May 12), Solarte was still listed as IPUL’s pastor on the church’s website.
