Jay now faces nine felony charges.
According to AZCentral, Jay stepped down from his role as pastor of Worship Life Center Church in May.
According to The Christian Post, in his final sermon, Jay said that he didn’t think he would “get to this point in life because of the life I’ve lived,” adding that he was a three-time convicted felon who used to “smoke dope.”
Encouraging churchgoers to combat negative thinking, Jay said of the mind, “You’ve got to manage this thing or that thing’s going to ruin you.”
Worship Life Center Church has disabled its website, Facebook page, and Instagram profile. The church’s phone line also appears to have been deactivated.
