The Danger of Being Slightly Off-Course

Driving, if you leave California and your destination is Atlanta, if you are just 10-15% off course, you will end up not only in a different city, but a different state altogether.

Do you feel me?

This year, I got so far off track in life.  I had clues for months that I had ventured off course, but because I saw some familiar faces, I just kept on going.  This is such an easy to mistake!  The people you love and know will follow you off course!!  Don’t mistake their presence for confirmation that you are on the right path.

Eventually, and I’m not speaking metaphorically here, I found myself so far off course that I didn’t know where I was or how to fix things.  One of the reasons I am living in California now is to assess where I went wrong, what my gifts/skills/calling are, what the right path is, who needs to be on the path with me, etc.  Ultimately, I just want you to hear from me that being slightly off course in life actually matters and that we often don’t know how much it matters until it’s too late or doggone close to it.

I was going to ask you if you are off course, but the truth is that you and I both know you are.  The better questions I could ask are:

  • When did you venture off course?
  • How far off course are you?
  • Do you need help getting on back on course?
