Chinese church

Chinese officials have gotten the 10 Commandments removed and replaced with quotes from President Xi Jinping in just about every Three-Self church in a county of Luoyang city in Henan province. This is just another in a series of steps the government is taking to sinicize religion in the country.

“The Party’s ideology and traditional culture are intruding into the church, to make us slowly deviate from our faith,” a Chinese pastor said.

A Chinese pastor who tried complying with the government's requirements for the three self patriotic movement has died by suicide. In a note, the pastor claims his action was one of martyrdom.

While Early Rain Church's pastor Wang Yi is still in detention and unable to make contact with anyone, church members who have been released report having their phones and social media profiles monitored.

Jiang Rong, the wife of Pastor Wang Yi of the Chinese church Early Rain, has been released from prison on bail and pending a trial. She has been reunited with the couple's son.

The Chinese government is continuing its persecution of Christians by shutting down yet another underground church in China. On March 23, authorities closed Shouwang Church and its affiliates, seizing the church’s belongings.

Religious persecution continues in China. In the latest of many injustices that authorities have committed against the members of Early Rain Covenant Church in Chengdu, 44 people were arrested and detained by police on Sunday, February 24.

Communist officials are applying more pressure to the Chinese church. Last April, government authorities asked Zion church in Beijing to install 24 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the building for “security.” The church refused and now it's lost its lease.
