COVID-19 vaccination

In an open letter dated on October 11, 101 Ohio clergymen criticized President Joe Biden for vaccine mandates, his stance on abortion, and his immigration policy. President Biden signed an executive order on September 9, requiring federal employees to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. 

More than 80% of Zimbabweans identify as Christian, but the sprawling differences in attitudes toward vaccines means there’s no one-size-fits-all solution for convincing hesitant religious citizens to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

Leilani Lutali, a Colorado woman with stage 5 renal failure, has been denied a kidney transplant due to being unvaccinated. A self-identified Christian, Lutali says she is refusing the vaccine on religious grounds.

This past Sunday, New York Governor Kathy Hochul said the COVID-19 vaccine is "from God" and that unvaccinated people "aren't following what God wants" at Brooklyn's Christian Cultural Center.

“A lot of pastors, based on where their congregations are at, are pretty hesitant to do so because this is so charged, and it immediately invites criticism and furor by the segment of your community that’s not on board," Dr. Danny Avula said.
