Zide Door in Oakland is suing police and the city over a raid of their facility, in which authorities confiscated $200,000 of cannabis and psychedelic mushrooms. Zide Door distributes the drugs to church members. 

"I thought a mom who used drugs when she was pregnant must not love her child," says Christina Dent, "[but then] I saw this mother who loved her son just as much as I loved my three sons, this fierce love, this desperate desire to do the right thing."

These startling statistics make one thing quite clear: The chances that every youth leader has at least one child or teen in their program that has been touched by the opioid crisis is high.

The church should be a place where substance abuse and addiction aren’t swept under the rug, but boldly and lovingly confronted.

The murders come amidst the Philippine drug war that has resulted in more than 16,000 unsolved homicide cases in a year and a half since President Rodrigo Duterte took office.

Researchers are finding that marijuana effects on the brain are serious. A study from the University of Maryland School of Medicine found teenagers who regularly smoke cannabis suffer long lasting brain damage and are in much greater danger of developing schizophrenia.
