The last two years have been marked by deep division on a number of fronts, both inside and outside the church. It is at this cultural moment that Francis Chan has an important message for Christians: church unity is not optional.

Francis Chan urged those watching that now is the time to repent and to consider that perhaps when all of this is over we shouldn’t get back to “church as usual, life as usual.”

Unity in the church is not an option for followers of Jesus, says Francis Chan. And if we are failing at it, one question we should ask is if we really know God—or if we just know a lot about him. 

“That isn’t the case that I know of,” Francis Chan said, referring to the speculation that his work visa was denied because of a communist agenda.

While Chan says he is appealing the Hong Kong visa rejection, he is convinced that no matter what happens, “God is sovereign and he is in control.”

The year 2020 will be a year that we will never forget. A year that was filled with news, a lot of which we all probably wish he hadn't had heard or experienced. And yet, we survived thanks to God's grace.
