Finally, as the dean of Talbot School of Theology, I walking over into some of Bethlehem’s college and seminary classrooms. The church founded Bethlehem College and Seminary (BCS) over 15 years ago. As I said on social media, “I snuck into the Bethlehem College and Seminary classrooms while preaching at the church. Love to see what God is doing, and we appreciate gospel-driven seminary friends around the world!” We need all sorts of schools to prepare God’s people for God’s mission, and at Talbot we’re cheering for BCS from across the country in Southern California!

In our season, global missions has fallen out of fashion in some evangelical circles—and even come under suspicion in others. Yet my time at Bethlehem was a fresh reminder: God’s heart still beats for the nations. We need to plant more churches in more places for more peoples. Excellence in theological education and passion for the mission go hand-in-hand. And Christians are still called to share and show the love of Jesus to a lost and hurting world.
