Be Available Beyond the Sound Booth

“Love without an agenda”

A friend of mine told me this one time. I believe this is one of the most important things a Christian can do: Live a life of love without an agenda or in other words, be available. Don’t just love people when it is good for you, love people when they need it most. Love is sacrificial, selfless and being available.

Many Christians will never experience the work of the Lord because they are so busy and wrapped up in their day to day life. They never leave room for God to work. Often times our lives are cluttered with good things such as, work, school, church and ministry opportunities. Have you ever thought about living a lifestyle of ministry? Living every day with the intent to see someone experience the love of Jesus. Living every day to further the kingdom of God. This can only happen by living a life that is available to be used by God.

We have work to do. There are people to love and people to serve. I believe that if you make yourself available to be used by God, He will use you up until the day you die. We have to be careful not to let good things become God in our life. Participating in ministries and church programs are obviously good things, but when they become more important than allowing God to work in your day-to-day life they become bad things.

Matthew 28:19 says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”

When Jesus said “go” He means “as you are going.” There is not an on and off switch for ministry. We live a life of availability and that is our ministry. That means if we are going to school, work, or the grocery store we are going with intent to “go and make disciples of all nations.” When you begin living a life that is available, you will start to experience God in your everyday life. For example, you may be walking through the grocery store and an old friend, who really needed to see you, could walk up and you have a chance to share some love with them.

Every morning you wake up, you have the choice whether to be used by God today, or to live your busy life and not impact anyone. God puts people in your life every day; everyone has a sphere of influence. The people you work with, your boss, the people you go to school with; they need to experience the love of Jesus.

Go, live a life of availability, love without an agenda, make disciples of all the nations.

Let us know how it goes; share some stories.
