Exploring God’s Will for Christian Teen Girls

Practical Advice for Christian Teen Girls

Let’s apply some of the biblical ideas above to how Christian teen girls can seek to do what God wants. We’ll apply these ideas to an area of life that God says is significant: relationships.

  • Relating to God

God wants to have a relationship with you! What do you do to foster a relationship? You spend time together. Make the effort to develop a daily Bible-reading and prayer habit. Dig deep into God’s Word and speak to him about what’s going on in your life. Ask him to help you grow more like Jesus. Ask God to help align what you want with what he wants.

  • Relating to Other Women

The Bible tells us we need to love all people; however, female friendships can be a real challenge. Many young women feel regularly betrayed and isolated by their friends. Girls can be really mean! But female friendship is important. Girlfriends can encourage one another, point to Jesus, and offer rebukes when needed.

We need to foster healthy, open friendships among Christian teen girls. That means listening to biblical advice and saying goodbye to gossip. Nobody benefits from gossip; it only hurts people. Make a choice to never engage in gossip, and call it out when it happens among your friends. Healthy friendships also mean letting go of our insecurities and vanity and not comparing ourselves to each other. Friendship is never healthy when jealousy is involved. True friendship flourishes in honesty, kindness, and compassion.

  • Relating to Men

As precious daughters of God, Christian teen girls have an identity that rests first and foremost in him. Not even possibly becoming a wife or mother someday will be more important than a woman’s relationship with God. Teen girls tend to idolize romance and even jump into unhealthy relationships out of a fear they won’t find love. But remember: God has a plan for your future, and whether or not that involves a husband and children, you’re still valued and loved.

Jesus loves you so much that he died for you! Knowing that, it’s a good idea to focus on friendship with guys during your teen years. Remember: You’ll be existing on the same planet as men are for your whole life, so it’s worth learning how to get along as co-workers, ministry volunteers, and friends.
