Dr. Christopher Yuan, Christian speaker and author of “Holy Sexuality” and “Out of a Far Country,” is currently paralyzed from the neck down following an abnormal “fall” he had on Monday, Sept. 22.
Yuan, 55, served as an adjunct instructor of the Bible at Moody Bible Institute for 13 years, an institution he graduated from in 2005. In 2007, he earned a Master’s degree from Wheaton College Graduate School and a doctorate from Bethel Seminary in 2014.
Yuan is well known for his radical story of salvation. His book “Holy Sexuality and the Gospel” was named 2020 Book of the Year for Social Issues by Outreach Magazine.
On Monday, a social media post with an image saying, “Urgent prayer request! Please pray!” was sent out to Yuan’s 43,800 followers on X.
“Dear friends, please pray for Dr. Christopher Yuan! He had a fall at home this morning, and cannot feel/move his legs,” the post said. “Emergency services are currently transporting him to the hospital. We appreciate your prayers!”
Yuan’s team shared that the accident occurred while Yuan was using an inversion table.
“He fell upside down on the teeter inversion table with a heavy swing and that heavy machine fell on his chest,” the post explained. “It is not a normal fall.”
An update that was later posted on Yuan’s social media informed his followers that Yuan was on the trauma floor and his mother was unable to go see him.

Yuan’s mother, Angela, posted on her son’s X, “Please pray for Christopher. He was admitted in the hospital yesterday morning at the trauma center after a severe injury.”
