Step 3: Start the Hunt
Gather the kids together and explain the goal of the Nativity Scavenger Hunt:
They’ll search for the pieces of the Christmas story and, as they find each one, learn what it means.
You can read clues aloud one by one or let small teams solve them together.
Step 4: Tell the Christmas Story
Once all the Nativity pieces are found, bring everyone together to retell the story of Jesus’ birth.
As you place each figure, read the matching Bible verse:
-
Mary & Joseph – Luke 2:4–5
-
Baby Jesus – Luke 2:7
-
Shepherds & Angels – Luke 2:8–14
-
Wise Men & Star – Matthew 2:1–2
This helps kids connect their discoveries to Scripture and see how each part fits into God’s story.
Step 5: Reflect and Celebrate
After the scavenger hunt, invite kids to reflect on what they’ve learned. Ask:
-
“What surprised you most about Jesus’ birth?”
-
“Why do you think God chose such a humble beginning?”
-
“How can we share the good news with others this Christmas?”
Close with a short prayer or sing a Christmas carol like Silent Night or Away in a Manger.
Optional: Add a Kindness Twist
Encourage kids to create their own version of the scavenger hunt at home by hiding kindness notes or Bible verses for their family.
Examples:
-
“Jesus is our light” (hidden near a lamp)
-
“God loves you” (hidden on a pillow)
It’s a simple way to spread joy and remind loved ones of God’s love.
A Nativity Scavenger Hunt helps kids experience the Christmas story through curiosity and play. It’s a reminder that Christmas isn’t about finding presents—it’s about finding Jesus.
This faith-based activity keeps the fun of the holiday while grounding it in truth, making it a perfect tradition for churches, classrooms, and families alike.
