Brett James’ Hit ‘Jesus, Take the Wheel’ Recorded by Carrie Underwood

Christian and country music artist Carrie Underwood recorded “Jesus Take the Wheel” on her album by the same title in 2005.

The song was written by Brett James, Hillary Lindsay, and Gordie Sampson.

In 2006, “Jesus Take the Wheel” won several awards, including Academy of Country Music Single of the Year. The song also won CMT Music Awards, including Breakthrough Video of the Year, and Grammy Awards including Best Country Song.

“Jesus Take the Wheel” was chosen for a number of contestant performances on “American Idol” and “The Voice.”

“Brett’s passing is leaving a hole in all of us that I fear won’t ever go away,” said Underwood. “It will forever be a reminder that this life is but a moment…we have to make the most of each day we’re given here on earth. Each day is a gift.”
