“As president of the SBC Executive Committee, it is my privilege and responsibility to promote the Cooperative Program. I do this gratefully as a product of this amazing giving strategy,” said Iorg. “I received a CP-funded education; planted a CP-funded church in Oregon; served a CP-funded state convention; and led a CP-supported seminary.”
“Being a champion for the Cooperative Program is a delight, not just a part of my job. Some churches give to SBC causes in other ways, for which I am also grateful,” Iorg continued. “I regret failing to communicate that more clearly.”
At its annual meeting in June, the SBC celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Cooperative Program, and Iorg said that he wants Southern Baptists “to work together to ensure it lasts another 100 years.”
“My dream remains that Southern Baptists will recommit to cooperation expressed through the Cooperative Program and focus on our overarching mission of getting the Gospel to the nations,” said Iorg.
“Thank you for allowing me to serve you in this capacity which gives me a front-row seat to the impact Southern Baptists are making as a force for good around the world,” Iorg concluded. “May God sustain us on the journey as we do this together.”
