Frank continued, “And then one day, I felt like God was telling me to release—I’ll call it my quiet time song—and I did. And here’s the thing, legally, it was self-produced and self-written, so legally that money comes to me.”
“What I do with that money after it legally comes to me I’m never gonna tell anybody, because your left hand isn’t supposed to know from your right hand,” Frank added, quoting Jesus’ words found in Matthew 6:3. “I might give 90% of my money away. I might give 10% of my money away, somewhere in between, but y’all are never gonna know that, because that’s my relationship with Jesus.”
Frank shared that he loves the conversation surrounding Jelly Roll’s question and said he is “willing to be refined in any area…I’m just stoked by this comment. This is something that I would love to figure out.”
“In the meantime, I’m a safe place for you, bro,” Frank told Jelly Roll. “Whether that’s on the phone or on here, on social media, I’m for you, bro. God is for you. He has a plan for your life.”
Despite not showing up at the Dove Awards, Frank won three awards, including Artist of the Year. The Artist of the Year Award is seen by many as the most prestigious award of the night and is often announced as the final award of the night. However, the award was scratched from the telecast and moved to the pre-telecast at this year’s award show.
The Gospel Music Association (GMA) provided ChurchLeaders a statement as to why Frank’s Artist of the Year Award was moved, saying, “If a winning artist(s) is not present or able to send a video acceptance speech for their winning category, that category is moved to the pre-telecast.”
