“My faith is everything,” he said. “I feel like it’s the reason I took this next step this season. I feel like it’s the reason I’m more locked in during the week and everyday decisions.”

Other College Athletes Speak Out About Their Faith

Across the country, college athletes are open about their own faith and how that impacts their lives on and off the field.

It says: “Those who exalt themselves or praise themselves will be humbled, but those who humble themselves will be praised.” I wear those words on my wrist every game.

Former Texas cornerback Jahdae Barron, who was selected in the first round by the Denver Broncos in 2025 NFL Draft, relies on the direction and timing of God. He has said:

I wanted things done on my time, but it doesn’t work like that. God has everything planned. It’s already written, and all you have to do is just keep going with the process, and just trust in the process. And then allowing everybody to be a plus in your life…just literally relying on God.

Former Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, who now plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, recognizes God’s presence with him. He prayed for “deeper fellowship” and continued “wisdom, strength, and humility as I continue to seek you.”

The Ohio State football team has participated in a campus-wide worship event for the past two years. Nearly 2,000 people attended the event in the fall of 2025 and experienced worship listened to other students’ stories of how God has impacted their lives.
