“It bothered me,” said Frank, “because that, I mean, [I] just was weirded out because God’s doing this thing through me and he told me to do it.”
Frank and Asbury were at odds—and ended up publicly reconciling.
“We ended up talking on the phone,” Frank recalled, “and just explaining each other’s sides, and I got to finally hear his story.” The two spent time together and “hit it off.”
The reconciliation was so meaningful for many—especially in this polarized culture. In fact, Frank and Asbury inspired a young boy to forgive a bully who had been mean to him.
During the church service, Asbury was in the congregation and joined Frank and Seibert on the platform to lead the church in worship, beginning with “Nothing But the Blood.”
Frank then led the congregation in a prayer of reconciliation.
“I thank you that you’re a healer—not only of broken bones, but you’re a healer of hearts,” Frank prayed.
Forrest Frank Shares About Leaving His Successful Secular Career
Frank told how God led him to join a mission trip and has continued to impact his marriage. “Surrender creates fruit,” said Frank as he recalled a time God prompted him to give a financial gift to the church. “Even if it’s not some huge deal, but it matters to God.”
Since 2017, Frank had grown a successful career in secular music—as one half of the duo Surfaces and as a solo artist, Forrest. While music was still vital to Frank, the secular scene was becoming less important. Seibert recalled a phone call he received from Frank when Frank was feeling led to leave secular music. As Frank was wrestling with the decision, he began to be “obedient to ‘no.'” He started turning down secular music invitations.
“Hey, I think you’re supposed to leave the secular realm, start making Christian music,” Frank remembered thinking in 2023. “God’s gonna bless it, and he’s just gonna flip the whole industry through you.”
Frank has already won a number of GMA Dove Awards as a Christian artist. He continues to write and record music through the highs and lows of life.
Even though his album “Child of God” was nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album at the 2025 Grammys, Frank chose to stay home.
“No this is not a refusal to be a light in dark places,” Frank said. “This is a refusal to go on stages and get awards. I already got the greatest award of all time. Hope y’all can understand love you guys .”
